Action Adventure Notes:

Explain the main features of action adventure films and provide examples to support your ideas, referring to at least 2 action adventure films.

Avatar: Jake is the main character as an ex-marine and is also the hero. He is represented in a wheelchair which connotes a brave and strong marine. He is represented to the audience like this for the audience to feel sympathy for him and to like him throughout the film. The company that made Avatar big is James Cameron; many know this is a big institution which also makes the audience predict it is also going to be a good movie. The language used is standard english. The storyline is based around a paraplegic marine dispatched to the moon Pandora on a unique mission becomes torn between following his orders and protecting the world he feels is his home. The oppositional characters are Jake and the Colonel as they fight  for a special rock and his 'home'. The journey alters from reality and a fantasy world. Most of the action sequences are in the disequilibrium. 

Mr and Mrs Smith: John and Jane Smith are the main characters, they are well known celebrities therefore attract a young audience. they are also the hero and heroin. Institution is the Fox Television Studios. There is a type of military language used as well as standard english, but in the world of Pandora, different languages are spoken including english. The storyline is married assassins John and Jane Smith re-established their respective businesses, though the marital issues that plagued them in the past have returned. In one part of the film, Jane and John are against eachother but then they go against the people they work with. The journey is based in a modern society therefore attracting the young audience. The action sequences are in the equilbrium and disequilbrium.
