Dark Knight and whysoserious.com analysis

The Dark Knight Poster
The poster includes the Batman's face made out of cards, surrounded by the actual joker cards. The cards have been stuck with sellotape. This connotes the joker made this. Cards represent a game, gambling, tricks and magic. There are phrases calved into the cards which could have been extracted from the film. These quotes have been calved in using the scalpel which is placed on the bottom right hand corner - this suggests hatred as it is mostly calved into the Batman himself and not written in pen. The quotes are: 'why so serious?' which is calved on top of a forced smile sprayed/brushed on the Batman's face, it looks like blood (the batman's?) or face paint (the jokers?), directly below this forced smile is a quote saying 'lets put a smile on that face' saying 'THAT face' means the joker is not talking directly to the Batman.  'Its simple kill the Batman' is the only time the word Batman is mentioned; as killing is also mentioned it links with the blood splattering around and on the Batman. Murder is a serious matter whereas in this poster it is taken as a joke which is unusual, this could mean the person (joker) planning to kill the Batman is quite confident about it.
The title of the film is 'The Dark Night' it is in simple typography which is white, capitalized letters. There is no obvious clue that this is promoting a movie, the only clue is the 'Warner Bros. Pictures' logo in the bottom. Behind ;The Dark Night' title, is the Batman sign which is widely recongnised, however it been put in that shape using 'HAHA' representing laughter.

 whysoserious.com
This is the homepage, its very different to average homepages. The first thing you can hear is 'This is a GCN traffic update' and a lot of confusion is heard in the background which connotes a bank robbery taken place as a bank is mentioned. The main attraction is a to-do list written by the joker, it has many things on it that have been completed hence the fact it has been crossed out. One of the things to do was 'make everyone everywhere look like me' this could have been done via Flash Mob, so he can pass a certain place without being caught as everyone
everywhere will look like him. Many of these are very cheeky and suspicious which all adds up to the personality of the joker himself. Everything is spaced out and looks rough.

When you click on the to-do list, a page titled Gotham Police Department comes up. It also says 'Police Department Use ONLY' which makes you feel special. The report overview below it has a brief description of a crime which links to one of the plans mentioned on the to-do list: 'make everyone everywhere look like me' It is quite obvious that these crimes have been done by the joker as to get to this page you had to click on the to-do list. It is in black and white which make it look more important. The picture in the top left corner is evidence of what the joker has produced for it to become such big news.
