Evening log - Observations of Adverts

While watching 'Bring it on: All or Nothing' on VIVA from 19:00 - 21:00, I came across a variety of advertisements during and before the movie. I was surprised that the adverts that came up, were mostly the same.

1) Thomas Cook Travel. - Target audience would be aimed towards adults as they are mostly in charge of bookings of holidays. This advert came on straight away as the movie went for a break, I think because the movie can be a family film, therefore with a family together watching a film could decide to go for a holiday. This advert contained the essentials of price and luxuries which were rather reasonable and luxurious. The advert showed 2 adults relaxing and having a good time together. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Z23jLO1Yk0&playnext=1&list=PL8B7E90BEA332513C&index=3

2) Heinz Tomato Soup - Target audience could be anyone. The advert consists off many different people in different settings all blowing a bowl of Heinz Tomato Soup. Currently, with it being winter, people would love to enjoy a bowl of soup to keep them warm, also the majority of the people in the advert were all wrapped up (ie. blankets, coats etc..) therefore the film watchers could have a crave for tomato soup infront of the television while watching their film. Many may not have soup in the household so it could persuade them to buy some for the next time they watch a movie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2X7MpKfQMo

3) Nintendo DS game - Target audience could be teenagers or adults because teenagers mainly own DS' and want to get as many games as possible, however in the advert there is a woman about 24 years of age playing the game which could suggest it is for a wider age range. The woman is also enjoying the game judging by the smile on her face. It may have come on after the film because the film is about cheerleading therefore mainly aimed for teenagers, so teens will see the game and may want to buy it. The advert shows footage of the game and other games in connection to it, it looks like a reasonably fun game which teenagers would be tempted to buy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duE3EWOhXhw

4) Cushelle toilet tissue - Target audience would be adults who do the household shopping. The koala in the advert is adorable and will definatly attract little kids as it is a cartoon. Possibly, if shopping with the kids and tey come across Cushelle toilet tissue, they will recognise the koala and force their parent to buy it?

5) Warner Lesiure Hotels - Target audience would be for adults as it mentions it in the advert. The advert has humour in it but it also has a meaning (continuously changing T-shirts, then coming down to one meaning taking a break, the shirts also have jobs on them ie. Laundrette.) Adults would enjoy this therefore put it after the film as the movie is family entertainment. The end scenery is beautiful and looks peaceful and clean so it would attract adults, also the couple in the advert look very hapy together. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jrnwq-O30Xw

6) Kwik - Fit advert - Target audience aimed at adults, implying a safe and secure vehicle repair.

7) Birds eye advert - Target audience would be families. Since this film was on in the evening near dinner time, families watching the movie could want Birds eye for dinner while watching the film. It would be comfy and relaxing. In the advert, it shows a fish fillett being cut in half with a fork in slow motion, this could get the audience in he mood for Birds Eye fish.

8) Sure Womens Crystal Deodrant -  Target Audience would definatly be women.
9) Thomas Cook Travel played again and the film started again.
